The women's national basketball team of the German Basketball Federation represents Germany at international games and championships. Its greatest successes include winning the bronze medal at the 1997 European Championships in Hungary and, above all, taking part in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris and reaching the quarterfinals against hosts France.
The road to the 2024 Olympic Games
The German team finished sixth at the 2023 European Basketball Championships, their second-best result at an international tournament. Thanks to this good result, the team secured a place at the qualifying tournament in Belém, Brazil. Their victory in the decisive match against hosts Brazil secured the team's Olympic ticket in the most impressive way and meant that they took part in the Olympic Games for the very first time in the history of the DBB. The DBB women also showcased their impressive skills on the biggest international stage, beating reigning European champions Belgium and Japan in the preliminary round to qualify for the quarterfinals in Paris. Only here did the women's national basketball team lose to the strong hosts from France.
