BAAM presents Trio Brontë as part of this year's Berlin Transatlantic Composers Workshop.
Founded in Berlin in 2022 and consisting of German Italian violinist Chiara Sannicandro, Bulgarian pianist Lili Bogdanova, and American cellist Annie Jacobs-Perkins, the trio has established itself as one of the most compelling young ensembles on the European scene. First prize winners of the Franz Schubert and Modern Music International Chamber Music Competition, they bring a level of artistry and distinction that is notable for an ensemble still in its early years. The Berliner Morgenpost has praised their ability to bring music "into the present with utmost sensitivity, illuminating, destructive, and yet lovingly affirming."
The program brings together works by American composers Jennifer Higdon, Michael Fine, and Bill Anderson alongside a new piece by Chinese composer Xiaowen Lei and a piano trio by Robert Schumann. The result is a program that moves across cultures, periods, and musical languages, reflecting the transatlantic spirit of the workshop itself.
This concert is an integral part of the workshop experience, offering participants, composers, and audiences direct access to chamber music performance at a high level. A pre-concert conversation with the artists and composers will provide insight into the creative process behind the music.
